The All Day Meeting...

Travelling from Zurich, Switzerland to Philadelphia for this special event...

Dr. Konrad H. Meyenberg

"Current Implant Design Developments and Their Impact on Tissue Management and Maintenance - Myths & Facts"

Today a countless variety of different implant-body-designs, implant-abutment- and implant-crown-connections is available: external or internal, conical or butt joint, flat or scalloped, and matching or nonmatching. In addition, different materials (pure titanium, Ti-alloys, zirconia) and different surfaces are challenging the clinician to make a proper choice.

A short overview of the current developments and their rationales is given, according to technical, functional, biological and aesthetic considerations.

In the first part of this presentation, technical aspects are discussed concerning mechanical risks, potential for errors, prosthetic versatility and precision, and the clinicalhandling. Special emphasis is given on the concept of smart screw-retained reconstructions.

In the second part, biological and aesthetical aspects are discussed to answer the question: is there one superior concept? What is the preferable surface in contact with bone and soft tissues? How can we minimize the risk of peri-implantitis?

All aspects are illustrated with numerous clinical cases with different implant systems used in the own clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:This presentation will help the participants

1. to make the difference between effective and fake innovations

2. to select a technically and biologically sound concept to minimize failures

3. to fulfill the needs of the patients in the best possible way, and to increase the reputation of the clinician as a first-class medical provider
